The five-matches T20I Sri Lanka tour of Australia started on February 11 and ended on February 20. Australia won the series by a 4-1 scoreline.

1st T20I

The Match took place at Sydney Cricket Ground on February 11, 2022.

Sri Lanka won the toss and decided to bowl first. Ben McDermott scored 53 runs and helped Australia to get 106 runs in 14 overs. Marcus Stonis tried to get runs by 2 boundaries and 2 sixes. Binura Fernando sent Marcus Stonis to the pavilion in 30 runs off 17 balls. Australia ended on 149 runs for 9 wickets.

In Sri Lanka’s innings, Sri Lanka lost two wickets in the first three overs. Zampa picked 2 wickets in his 2nd over. Josh Hazlewood started to take a wicket and bowled exceptionally well by taking 4 wickets only for 12 runs. In the end, Sri Lanka was on 122 runs for 8 wickets and Australia won by 20 runs.

2nd T20I

The Match took place at Sydney Cricket Ground on February 13, 2022. Sri Lanka won the toss and was elected to field first. Australia made a target of 164 runs in 20 overs. Josh Inglis was 2 runs away from his half-century with 4 boundaries. Australia’s Captain, Aaron Finch scored 25 runs off 20 boundaries.

In Sri Lanka’s innings, Pathum Nissanka played exceptionally well during his innings. He scored 73 runs off 53 balls with 7 boundaries and 2 six. Josh Hazlewood picked up 3 wickets of Sri Lanka’s batsman and restricted them to the target run. Sri Lanka ended in 164 runs but Australia won super overs.

3rd T20I

The Match took place at Manuka Oval, Canberra on February 15, 2022. Australia won the toss and chose to field first. Australia’s bowler restricted Sri Lanka to a lowly 121 runs for 6 wickets. Out of 6 wickets, Kane Richardson picked up 3 wickets. Captain of Sri Lanka, Dasun Shanaka scored 39 runs off 38 balls.

Aaron Finch and Glen Maxwell led Australia to Victory. Glen Maxwell released the pressure by an outrageous switch-hit six-off spinner Jeffrey Vandersay.  Aaron Finch played determinedly but fell for only 35 runs. Australia made 124 runs for 4 wickets in 16.4 overs. Australia won by 6 wickets.

4th T20I

The Match took place at Melbourne Cricket Ground on February 18, 2022. The toss was won by Australia and they chose to bowl first. Pathum Nissanka played exceptionally well. He scored 46 runs off 40 balls. Jhye Richardson and Kane Richardson picked up 2 wickets each and limited Sri Lanka to 139 runs for 8 wickets.

Josh Inglis struck back-to-back boundaries off Jeffrey Vandersay including a brilliant reverse sweep. Josh Inglis scored 40 runs off 20 balls. After the fall of Josh Inglis, Maxwell brought 3 boundaries and Marcus Stonis Carried one boundary. They both led the match to victory. Australia made 143 runs for 4 wickets and won the match by 6 wickets.

5th T20I

The match also took place at Melbourne Cricket Ground on February 20, 2022. Australia won the toss and decided to bat first. Both openers of Australia were fell during the Powerplay. Lahiru Kumara and Dushmantha Chameera took 3 wickets each. Matthew Wade scored 43 runs off 27 balls with 2 boundaries and 2 sixes. Australia ended on 154 runs for 6 wickets.

Sri Lanka’s Kusul Mendis scored 69 runs off 58 balls and led Sri Lanka to victory. Kusul Mendis and Dasun Shanaka made a match-winning partnership of 83 runs. Sri Lanka scored 155 runs for 5 wickets and won by 5 wickets.
