The favourites to win the Asia Cup, India are currently on the verge of getting eliminated from the continental Championship. To be fair and honest, they are not on the verge they are already eliminated.
And a lot of players are getting targeted by fans and former cricketing legends. And one player from the list is Bhuvneshwar Kumar. In both the fixtures where India lost, Kumar was responsible for bowling the 19th over.
And we just cannot say that he did his job well. He was known as the expert on death because of his proven heroics in recent years with Mohammad Shami as his pace partner. But unluckily, it feels like the champ has lost his magic.
Bhuvneshwar Kumar has been expensive at the death, conceding 19 overs in the 19th over against Pakistan and 14 in the penultimate over against Sri Lanka. Those who were watching the match live fumed after the 19th was Over. The last over was of Indian Young Gun Arshdeep Singh, who bowled super well. And evidently, Singh was sorted with his Yorkers.
The Indian team is currently on the brink of exit from the continental Championship in the fate is no longer in the hands. If Afghanistan somehow manages to beat Pakistan today and then Sri Lanka also records a win over the Green attire, then India will have a chance to qualify for the final.
But the permutations, as well as the combinations, do not work in your favour, almost every time. Former Pakistani pace bowler, Wasim Akram has opened up about his thoughts regarding Bhuvaneswar Kumar’s bowling.
What does Wasim Akram say about Bhuvaneswar Kumar ?
“Bhuvi is a very good bowler. Don’t get me wrong but there is no pace. In T20, when you don’t have pace, especially on this kind of pitch, he’s a medium pacer, just maybe over medium pacer…135 (kmph).”
And you need regular bowlers, who can bowl at the death. You can’t pick up someone out of the hand. It’s impossible to bowl, if you are not used to the pressure,” Wasim Akram said on Star Sports.
