Afghanistan has technically topped the Group B as they won against Bangladesh on Tuesday. The Afghans won the match by 7 wickets. But the last match of the group B, that will be played between Bangladesh and Sri Lanka, will be decider. The winner of the match will proceed further in the top 4. While the losing will have to head home.
Sri Lanka recently gave a really tough competition to the world champions, Australia. Although they lost the T20I series against them, but the Lankans clinched the ODI series. And following that, the two matches test series was drawn 1-1.
The predictions were in favour of Sri Lanka but unfortunately they were awestruck by the bowling lineup of Afghanistan. We’re familiar with the ability or Rashid Khan and Mohammad Nabi but Fazalhaq Farooqi has been a key to a whole different treasure for Afghanistan.
On the other hand, Bangladesh has always suffered between the top-tier teams. And surprisingly, the Afghans have taken a drastic rise. But their real test will be against Elite teams, that are Pakistan and India.
Talking about the match, Bangladesh won the toss and they decided to bat first. And Quick wickets started falling from the side of Bangladesh. As a result, the finishes had to come really early and make the inning stable instead of attacking. Mosaddek Hossain played an impressive inning of 48 runs off 31 deliveries.
Rashid Khan and Mujeeb Ur Rahman took three wickets each. Playing at Sharjah Cricket Stadium, the green outfit gave the target of 128 runs. Ibrahim Zadran and his brother Najibullah Zadran took the charge of batting for their nation. One of attacking severely while the other one was on a defensive mode. Najibullah Zadran’s 43 run inning off just 17 deliveries helped Afghanistan clinch the victory with 7 wickets.
